Grants
The Arizona Archaeological and Historical Society awards annual grants in six categories:
- Standard Research Grants
- Travel Grants
- Carryl B. Martin/F. Lewis Orrell, Jr. Research Grant
- Subvention Grants
- Julian D. Hayden Paper Competition (in cooperation with the Arizona Archaeological Council)
- F. Lewis Orrell, Jr. Curriculum Development Grant (open to elementary and high school teachers in the state of Arizona).
Eligibility
- Membership in the Society is required to apply for any of these grants (except the F. Lewis Orrell, Jr. Curriculum Development Grant).
- Applicants must be involved in study or research focused on the southwestern United States or northwestern Mexico. The study or research must be in one of the following disciplines – archaeology, socio-cultural anthropology, linguistic anthropology, biological anthropology, Native American studies, ethnohistory, or history.
- Applicants can submit proposals for each grant category. Only one award will be granted per applicant per year.
- Grants may not be used for purchase of capital equipment.
